La Ultimate Collection racchiude i 15 anni di musica di Anastacia, perciò vogliamo guardare con più attenzione le canzoni pubblicate fino ad oggi.
Analizzando i testi degli inediti pubblicati si può notare la presenza di alcuni sostantivi, verbi o espressioni che si ripetono all’interno dello stesso album e, se in certi casi sono delle semplici coincidenze, a volte queste parole chiave delineano le tematiche dell’intero album.
Tralasciando termini come Crazy, Baby, Lie, Strong, Fight e Truth, che sono parte del linguaggio usuale, abbiano isolato le espressioni più ricorrenti, nel dettaglio:

Nei primi due album di Anastacia sono poche le parole ripetute e non hanno un legame con l’intero album.

Nel terzo album, il più rappresentativo di Anastacia, ci sono una serie di termini ed espressioni che danno una visione totale dell’album, ma ancora più curioso è numero di volte in cui alcune di queste parole sono presenti.
ONLY A MATTER OF TIME, Solo una questione di tempo, è l'espressione che troviamo in “Seasons change” (It’s only a matter of time before the night turns into day) e “Time” (All of your yesterdays are only a matter of time)
HAZE, Foschia, è in “Seasons change” (It feels like an eternal haze) e “Welcome to my truth” (Sentimental days in a misty clouded haze)
FAIRY TALE / FANTASY, Favola / Fantasia, è il binomio di parole che troviamo per 3 volte nello stesso verso: in “Left outside alone” (All my life I’ve been waiting for you to bring a fairy tale my way, been living in a fantasy without meaning), “Sick and tired” (My dreams of fairy tales and fantasy were torn apart) e “Maybe today” (And all the fairytales and fantasies)
JOURNEY, Viaggio, è presente in “Time” (And the journey of a lifetime will begin with one step) e “Heavy on my heart” (There’s a journey in my eyes)
PAINT A PICTURE, Dipingere un quadro, è l'espressione usata in due canzoni che trattano lo stesso tema: “Heavy on my heart” (If I could paint a picture of this melody it would be a violin without its strings) e “Where do I belong” (They paint you a picture of perfect nowhere blue skies)
WEB, Tela, è presente in “Welcome to my truth” (Tangled in a web with a pain hard to forget) e “Where do I belong” (Within every lie there’s a web of comfort)
FLOATING, Galleggiando, è un verbo usato ben 4 volte all'interno dell'album: in “Sick and tired” (I’m floating on air), “Pretty little dum dum” (Floating in a circle of illusion and deceit), “Rearview” (I left us floating in the air for the wind to hold on to) e “Where do I belong” (I’m floating in a sea of strange believers)

Heavy Rotation
Nel quarto album di inediti ci sono 2 espressioni ripetute 2 parole:
BE STRONG, Sii forte, è un'espressione simbolo di Anastacia e si trova sia in “Defeated” (Told myself stand up be strong) che in “You’ll be fine” (Be strong hold on don’t let go)
DAZE, Stordimento, è nel testo di “In summer” (But it leaves me in a daze) e di “Never gonna love again” (Last night I woke up in a daze)
MESSED UP WORLD, Mondo incasinato, è l'espressione usata in “Same song” (It nearly blows my mind in this messed up world) e nella bonus track “Beautiful messed up world”

In Resurrection si trovano delle parole che rappresentano un po' l'intero percorso dell'album e quindi del particolare momento in cui è stato scritto. In ordine:
KNIFE, Coltello, è in “Lifeline” (I feel the knife at my throat and it cuts and it burns) e “Broken wings” (Turning the pages cuts like a knife once again)
TURNING PAGES, Girare le pagine, è l'espressione presente in “Evolution” (Turning pages no regrets) e “Broken wings” (Turning the pages cuts like a knife once again)
ANGEL, Angelo, si trova in “Stay” (Somewhere there’s an angles saying stay) e in “Broken wings” (Wings of an angel replaced my beautiful scars)
APOLOGIZE, Chiedere scusa, è presente in forme diverse in ben 3 canzoni: come verbo in “Pendulum” (Baby don’t apologize it’s all right) e come sostantivo in “Dark white girl” (I make no apologies) e “Apology” (This is my apology tonight I don’t want to fight about it)
REGRET, Rimpianto, si ripete prima in forma di sostantivo in “Evolution” (Turning pages no regrets) e poi come verbo in “Resurrection” (All that I’ve gone through is what brought me here so I can’t regret a single thing), in entrambi i casi come forma negativa.
Avete visto come la scrittura dei testi di Anastacia abbia in certi casi una lettura più ampia all'interno dell'album che, forse anche involontariamente, traccia una trama nascosta e coerente. Continueremo questa analisi la prossima settimana!
